Every photo you've ever taken in Google Photos has already been looked at by AI — before you ever asked it to.

The exact clicks

1. Open the Google Photos app on your phone (or photos.google.com on the web).
2. Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner, then tap 'Photos settings' (on web: Settings via the gear icon).
3. Look for the Ask Photos / 'Ask Photos' section (may also appear under a general 'AI features' or 'Gemini' heading, depending on your app version and region).
4. Find the toggle for allowing your questions to be reviewed by people to improve the feature — wording varies by version, but it's the one governing human review of your Ask Photos queries.
5. Switch it off if you don't want your questions reviewed by anyone besides the automated system.
6. Understand what this does and doesn't do: this controls who can review the QUESTIONS you type into Ask Photos. It does not stop the AI from having already analyzed the content of your photo library — that's the feature working as designed, on by default.

• Turning off human review of your queries does not delete or undo the AI's existing analysis of your photo library — there is currently no publicly documented Google Photos setting that reverses that.
